Creating Accessibility for Reproductive Values and Education

The CARVE focus:

  • Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH)

    • Gender inclusive (MHH) education focused on reproductive anatomy and menstrual health emphasizing health promotion and destigmatizing natural processes using age and culture appropriate means while maintaining quality information .

    • Creating community (ie. school, mothers groups, youth clubs) specific educational materials and interactive sessions where reproductive anatomy, menstrual cycle education and menstrual cups (when funding allows and females only) will be part of creating safe, free and effective menstrual hygiene management.

    • Including boys and men within the target education will fully allow for gender equitable space to decrease the knowledge gap while emphasizing the barriers specific to the menstruation and how male counterparts can be a part of the push for equitable futures.

  • Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR)

    • Baseline assessment of community specific needs to identify where gaps in SRHR exist. Education focused on specific needs of the community in which we will be asked to work in. Identify gaps in existing health knowledge access while promoting evidence-based information dissemination in age specific formats.

    • Youth driven health groups (i.e. in schools, sports clubs) including all genders creating a small trusting environment for questions and concerns being raised by youth themselves. Focus on empowering youth to speak up and learn supportive messaging in SRHR and quality information for informed decision-making ability.

    • Dismantling current dangerous behaviors leading to poor health outcomes and early pregnacy among youth and young women.

  • Training and Placement

    • Constantly train community members who show interest and passion in these topics to enhance leadership in SRHR and MHH within.

    • Create MHH specific training modules for education and/or menstrual cup trainings and dispersal.

    • Place CARVE Africa consultants within partner organizations or companies that wish to improve their gender equity, MHH and SRHR components.
